Exciting News for Anime Fans! The Dengeki Bunko 30th Anniversary Livestream Event, held on Sunday, unveiled a thrilling sneak peek into the highly-anticipated "Unnamed Memory" anime adaptation. Based on Kuji Furumiya's popular light novel series, the event treated fans to a new teaser promotional video and a captivating second teaser visual that left viewers eagerly anticipating more.
However, we'll have to exercise a bit of patience, as the anime's release has been delayed from this year to 2024 due to unforeseen "production circumstances." While it's a bit disappointing to wait longer, this decision may ultimately result in a polished and spectacular series that stays true to the source material.
"Unnamed Memory" boasts an impressive team behind its creation. Kazuya Miura, known for works like "Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs" and "Kan Colle Season 2: Let's Meet at Sea," is taking the reins as director at ENGI. Series composition is in the capable hands of Deko Akao, whose previous works include "Komi Can't Communicate," "Noragami," and "The Case Study of Vanitas." Chika Nōmi, renowned for "Kan Colle Season 2: Let's Meet at Sea" and "Kemono Michi: Rise Up," will adapt chibi's original character designs for the animation. And with Akito Matsuda, known for "Sound! Euphonium" and "Liz and the Blue Bird," composing the music, we can expect a captivating and emotionally charged soundtrack.
As for the cast, Yoshiki Nakajima is set to star as Oscar, the crown prince of Farsas, while Atsumi Tanezaki will portray Tinasha, the powerful witch on whom Oscar's fate depends.
For those unfamiliar with the series, "Unnamed Memory" takes place in a world where witches wield immense power, capable of causing untold havoc. Oscar, the crown prince of Farsas, was cursed as a young boy, preventing him from ever having an heir. Determined to break the curse, he sets out to find Tinasha, reputedly the strongest witch on the continent. To reach her, he must scale her tower, where she grants the wish of anyone who succeeds in reaching her summit. But little does Tinasha know that Oscar's request will be unlike anything she's ever heard before—he wants her to become his bride!
English-speaking fans can also get in on the action, thanks to Yen Press, which is releasing both the light novel series and its manga adaptation in English. The novels have already garnered significant attention, ranking #1 in the esteemed "Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!" guidebook in 2020.
The manga adaptation by Naoki Koshimizu began serialization in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in September 2020.
All in all, "Unnamed Memory" promises to be an enthralling fantasy tale filled with magic, curses, and an unconventional love story. With an exceptional team behind the scenes and a captivating storyline, the extended wait until 2024 will undoubtedly be worth it for anime enthusiasts worldwide. Stay tuned for more updates on this fantastical journey!
